Renewables

Does renewable energy offset my SECR emissions?

Under SECR mandatory reporting, you must use the location-based method which applies the UK grid average factor to your electricity consumption. This means renewable energy purchases do not reduce your reported Scope 2 emissions in SECR. However, you can voluntarily disclose market-based figures if you purchase green tariffs or REGO certificates. These demonstrate your commitment to renewables even though they do not change the mandatory SECR disclosure.
